Frequently Asked Questions + Answers

As you are exploring the Kansas City area for a photographer, you will find yourself asking important questions. My job is not only to create Portraits during an Experience, but also to guide you on choosing the right photographer. Listed below are some frequently asked questions.

Q. How do I book an Artsy Tog Experience?

A. If you already know what session option you want, you can book it online by clicking on the Book Now button and paying. If you are not sure, we can discuss your photography needs to determine the perfect session for you. You can contact Elizabeth through the contact form, Facebook Messenger, or email at TheArtsyTog@gmail.com to start a conversation.

Q. When do I pay for my Session Experience?

A. To officially reserve your Portrait Session Experience, a Booking fee is required at the time you schedule the photography session. The Booking Fee goes towards the total session cost. After you pay the Booking fee, the final balance is due 24 hours before the scheduled session time. For your convenience I accept cash, credit, or PayPal. The initial booking can be completed online with a credit card. If you prefer to pay via cash or PayPal, please contact Elizabeth to arrange the payment.

Q. What is included in my Portrait Session Experience?

A. Session Fees cover my time, photography skills, equipment, image retouching, travel, and additional expenses. All session options include: Pre-session Creative consultation, personal allotment of time, on location* photography, image retouch, set number of digital portraits according to package, and print release. *Some locations require additional fees that are not included in the session price.

Q. What is not included in my session Experience cost?

A. Your session fee does not include any print products or extensive editing. There is a $20 per person fee for additional people over the session option. If the location chosen requires additional photography fees, those fees are not included in the session option price. Activity fees for Experiences are not included in any session pricing and are the responsibility of the Client.

Q. How long should I plan for the session to take?

A. The session duration determined by your chosen experience. While we likely will not be shooting the entire time, the time allows for warm up pictures and any needed breaks for the client(s). Longer sessions allow for flexibility in location changes.

Q. Where will my session be located?

A. Photography sessions can be booked at a public indoor or outdoor location, your home or property, at your employment (if approved), or at a private location where you are able to get approval from the owner. Be creative and ask your friends or family to take portraits at their Farm, Pond, Garden/Greenhouse, Boat or Plane! Consider places such as a parking garage, coffee Shop, park, woods, field, library, bookstore, staircases, rooftop, botanical garden, museum grounds, theater, fancy hotel, retro diner, landmarks, etc.

Q. What happens if it is raining or snowing on our session date and time when we plan to be outside?

A. If it is raining or snowing when the photography session is scheduled to begin, then it is your choice if we reschedule the session for another available day & time or change the location.

Q. Can we bring pets, props, cars, motorcycle, instrument, picnic items etc?

A. Yes! Please bring what you would like to enhance the vibe, is special to you, showcases your talent, or what you love to do.

Q. What is image retouch?

A. Session images are edited during post-processing to correct for white balance, tone, cropping or image straightening, or slight skin corrections when possible. Extensive retouching is not included. You may have the images you receive with your session or purchase separately further retouched with another professional at your expense after you receive them.

Q. How long does it take to get images back?

A. Your client gallery will be available with digital portraits for you to preview and share within 48 hours. It can take up to 2 weeks for the images from the complete photography session to be available in the online Client Gallery for your viewing pleasure. At no time will the unedited images be provided to you and they cannot be purchased.

Q. How long will the Client Gallery be available?

A. You will be able to view your online Gallery for 30 days from when you receive access to it by email unless otherwise specified by your session option. This gives you a Sneak Peek, allows time to go through and choose your 'Favorites' to determine which you will Download, and let's you (and those you allow access to the gallery) decide whether or not to place orders for professional prints.

Q. Can we do an in person viewing of portraits?

A. Yes! Let Elizabeth know during the planning process or at the photography session so it can be scheduled. To ensure safety following the COVID-19 pandemic, screening questions will be asked prior to meeting in person and there will be an adherence to state and local guidelines.

Q. Can I print the digital images on my own?

A. Yes, you are welcome to print the images on your own. If you do this, Elizabeth recommends making sure that the printer does not color correct the images (many automatically do). A high quality printer is also recommended. While cheap prints sound great in theory, the cheaper printing quality often will not do your images justice. Paper quality, color correction, and a handful of other factors play a big role in the way your prints turn out. These are the Big reasons I offer professional prints to my clients.

Q. Do I own the rights to the images?

A. By law, the creators of images always own the rights to the images. However, you will be provided with a print release to use. print, and share the images. You are welcome to share the images on social media. To ensure my work is accurately represented, refrain from any edits. The only thing you cannot do is sell the images or use them for marketing without consent. I appreciate image credits to help my business grow.
